Île-de-France Mobilités announces that it will be possible from January 20th for Public transport users to top up their passes on their iPhone. The reload function will be accessible for NFC-compatible iPhone users. It will therefore be possible for these users to top up anywhere and at any time from the application as well as to consult the balance of available tickets.
Until now, these features were available for some Android devices. Negotiations between Apple and IDFM were tough but finally bore fruit. Apple agreed to open its NFC chip to allow access to the Ile de France Mobilités service. This is a significant step forward and a first victory that opens Apple technology to French public transport, while waiting for Apple’s authorization for the digitisation of the card.
The opening of the service on iPhone is scheduled for January 20th, but the developers have already worked on an update. Previously named Via Navigo, the service is changing its name to Ile de France Mobilités.
After integrating its technology into the Via Navigo mobile ticketing service on Android via its ReadyToTapMobility solution, dejamobile is proud to contribute to the opening of the Ile de France Mobilités service for compatible iPhones users.
